Description
This anthurium arrangement was photographed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. The old ship in the background is on a wall mural. The ship is representative of the ships that use to ply the waters in the days when Hawaii was a stop over point when crossing the Pacific.
The Anthurium is a flowering plant also known as tailflower, flamingo flower and laceleaf. It is native to the Americas but more widely known throughout Mexico to Argentina and the Caribbean.
While red anthuriums enjoyed popularity for many years, hybrids are now available in pink, white, green and combinations of these colors. The anthurium grows in cooler months so has gained wide popularity as a holiday plant. Of course, the red anthurium started that tradition. Those who love anthuriums readily accepted the color variations as well.
