Description
Kong Mountain got its name from portions of the movie King Kong being filmed on Kauai. Notice the center point on the mountain? It resembles the side view of King Kong's head. So that mountain, or portion of it, came to be known as Kong Mountain. Actually, I believe it's the end of the Makaleha Mountain range that runs all the way back into the island behind Princeville and Hanalei. Too, one radio station had picked up the name and uses Kong Radio. The fields between where I stood to take this shot and Kong Mountain are uninhabited as is much of the island. After passing through Kapaa and heading north, this mountain protrudes near Anahola.
