Lawai Bay on the south shore of Kauai in Hawaii is a somewhat hidden beach. Access can be found walking along the sea line mostly at low tide, but it is accessible along the coast line. The ocean views create a spectacular seascape. The water seems always blue. Access to this beach can also be found through Allerton Garden, though the tours do not allow for spending much time on the beach except for picture taking.
Allerton Garden, located in the Lāwai Valley on the south shore of Kauai in Hawaii, is a garden paradise. The property was first tended to by a Hawaiian queen. Then the property was taken over by a sugar cane plantation. Most recently an artist and architect transformed the vast acreage.

I was fortunate to spend most of a day at the actual Allerton home in the mid-eighties. The caretakers daughter, who was a friend of a friend, was residing there at the time. It was a phenomenal, relaxing day with a private tour of the gardens, climbing coconut trees by the patio for coconuts, and fresh caught crab at the river mouth for dinner. I remember being star-struck by the queens cabin, the long private road that led to paradise, the incredible garden "rooms" and story behind them, immense lawn, and interestingly enough by the simplicity of the white wood walls of the main house mixed with the glass. At that time there were four marvellous statues on the patio; I understand they were damaged in the hurricane. A special day to remember!!
