The sidewalk of Main Street in Locke, California, a Chinatown settlement that is now an artists' area and also inhabited by the famous Al the Wops restaurant and Dai Loy Museum, among other shops.
The Chinatown of Locke, California was built by Chinese immigrants in 1912 and, for a while, was the largest Chinatown outside of China. When the nearby town of Walnut Grove burned to the ground due to an accidental fire, immigrants settled in Locke.
Locke was known for its saloons, houses of ill-repute, gambling, opium and other activities of reputation. Today, it is a thriving area artists and includes the famous Al the Wops restaurant.
