Description
The name Palo Verde translated to Spanish means "green stick." The bark of a palo verde tree is green because it's filled with chlorophyll. Unlike most trees, this plant gets a lot of photosynthesizing done through its bark. It's the Arizona State Tree! This genus is called the Desert Museum and can grow to 30 feet and live 100-400 years. The flowers and seeds are edible, like on your next salad. Though they shed their yellow flowers, they are not known to contribute to seasonal allergies.
