Description
The flag by the mailbox is a common sight on Kauai, whether or not it is the 4th of July.
This image of the American flag perpetuates a favorite saying of mine: Hang 'em high! Furthering that, whether hung high or low, let the red, white and blue wave in our wonderful tropical breezes.
During a period of a few years, a while back, it was common for people to decorate their mailboxes with some sort of art. Some people had Snoopy on top of the box. Some people had sea life motif, like fish or turtles. These people had a Victorian house made just for that purpose. It was quite decorative to see as you drove around the island. Sadly, after noticing that this one was missing, someone told me it was stolen. Needless to say, vandalism has stopped such decorating of one's property and gardens outside the gate.
