This Scarlet Macaw, a beautiful red bird, lives at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki. Lucky bird! These exotic birds are so use to being around people that they seldom change position which makes for great photos. These avian do not come to people though and stay away from being touched. I so admire these tropical macaws.

Macaws are part of the parrot family. All have brilliant plumage and incredibly strong beaks. They prefer living in rain forests, but when import laws relaxed, some were taken out of their natural habitat and kept as pets. Macaws have a bone inside their tongue which allows them to test the fruits they eat.
