Description
The Lotus flower is an aquatic plant and grows in water on tall stalks. They are said to be a mythological plant. True, it conjures up feelings of love and spirituality. Among other interpretations, to Tibetan Buddhists, it is one of eight auspicious symbols, called "ashtamangala."
However, the leaves also have purpose. They can grow up to 18 inches in diameter on their own tall stalks.
In the Chinese culture, the leaves or nodes are used to cleanse the liver and spleen. The main function is to stop bleeding and invigorate the blood. Whatever the many uses in various cultures, the leaves in these images gather and hold water and make for exciting, almost abstract, images. This image is cropped for those who loved images in perfectly square format
The artist, Mary Deal, is also an award-winning author of mystery/thrillers, a short story collection and writers' reference books. Read about it here:
