Description
The Blue Headed Pionus has a medium blue head and neck but is mostly green over its body with red tail feathers. It is a medium sized bird. Originally, they were imported from South and Central America.
This bird thrives in humid and semi-humid climates but is known to live in arid climates as well. In dried climates, they mostly stay near water. They lay their eggs in trees cavities, eat fruit, seeds and grain.
The Blue Headed Pionus is a social bird that likes to roost in groups but do well living alone as a pet. They are affectionate and mostly quiet though have a peculiar squawk and, like many parrots, can be easily heard.
