An example of house architecture in the 1800s.
During 1870-1871, this cottage, with unique architecture of the day, was the temporary home of Queen Emma. It is located at Lawai Kai. She passed away in 1886. The home is located on the 125-acre Allerton Gardens on Kauai's south shore in Hawaii. The location is deep within the extensive Allerton Gardens property. You can only get to this house by taking the tour.
Originally situated high atop the Poipu side of Mauna (mountain) Kilohana, the house was moved in 1916. It was cut into sections and reassembled on the valley floor.
