Description
Ironwood trees struggling to survive at Ke`e beach on Kauai in Hawaii. Ke`e Beach is at the far end of the North Shore and shares its location as the trail head to the 12-mike Kalalau Trail along the steep Na Pali Cliffs.
Ironwood trees and Kamani trees line the beach areas. When the tide is high, it pulls sand away from the tree roots as you see here. But these are only the top edges of the roots; they dwell still deeper into the earth. Sand will never be re-deposited for these trees since a coral reef has grown just off shore. More than enough sand remains and some replenished for a great beach, a rather large tide pool and some great snorkeling.

Thank you, Barbara, and for your v too. I haven't been to this beach lately. I should go see the condition now.
